CEC XS-1200 Freighter by boomerangmouth CEC XS-1200 Freighter by boomerangmouth
The XS-1200 is the latest in the Corellian Engineering Corporations XS line of freighters. Though not as popular as the more common YT-class craft, their larger single hold is better suited to transporting bulky cargo and the eight oversized thrusters they inherit from their CR-class cousins make them effective as long-distance cargo haulers.

The forward module containing the cockpit is connected to the rest of the ship by magnetic clamps. In the event of a pirate attack or critical damage, this module doubles as an escape pod.

---

Another ship concept for the small RP I'm involved in. This one was meant to be an XS-800 with a slightly better scaled deckplan. However, the only top-down view of its larger cousin I could find (the famous CR-90 Corvette Tantive IV) didn't translate well to suggest the outline of the XS-800.

...So I made an entirely new ship. The information on the plan states a crew of 2, but there are 3 beds! This is because I was going along the thought that there would be a pilot, co-pilot and cargo manager/captain. The bed in the hold is for the mercenary Cathar who would be hitching a ride on the ship.

(It's probably an easily missed touch too, but the corridor floor pattern is based on the Tantive IV's corridors >_>)

I have a version of the Tantive IV I extropolated from the Complete Cross-Sections book (God, what a nightmare that was!), but it has a flaw or two that I will be correcting now that I have my drafting light table and proper tools (I do a lot by hand). I'd be willing to share it with you. Give me a little bit to redo it (I am in the middle of a house remodel) but you can just import it into paint for the basic shape and layout if you'd like, then colorize it. The one thing that irritated me about the CR-90 and -100 was the aft because the Cross-Sections books don't really show where the engine room lies very well...

If you could share that that'd be amazing! I'd love to get down to the nitty gritties of a capital ship!

I certainly will. I'll have to leave printer's marks on the margins, though, as I don't have the money for a large-scale scanner (or plotter-printer--can't wait to get one of those!) and will scan it in sections, then stitch it together. I'm working on the Republic Cruiser Radiant VII right now (wanted to warm up before re-doing the Tantive IV). I'll scan it twice--once for just the outline of the decks and silhouette to send to you so you can play with it and tweak it) and again as a finished product. Would you be willing to let me use some of your map icons (crates, chairs, etc)? Then I could flesh it out a little better, I think. I can't afford photoshop, but I have the free version of Serif's DrawPlus (love that program and will be upgrading to premium as soon as I have the $60) and between that and MS Paint and Pixlr.com, I can pull off some pretty cool stuff.

Got the outline for the Radiant VII's main deck done. Wasn't sure if you'd be interested in a smaller capital ship to start. I wish I had access to your icon/token library...lol You'll probably have to retrace it in Photoshop, no?

Free version of CS 2:

I would love to see what you can do with it! Your layouts are amazing. Also, I figured you would appreciate this: I found a site that offers Adobe CS2 for free, so you can pick what you like out of there (like Photoshop or Illustrator) and download it. Comes complete with the product keys.

You know, I really like this ship design (and your other ones!). Would it be okay if I used it later on in my own SW fanfic? Like I said, I REALLY like it! If not, could I possibly call on you at a later point to make me a deckplan for another ship I'm considering using (if I can't use this one)?

Hi there!

You certainly can use this in your fic! A note of credit would be nice if you'd be so kind!

As for later on, I can certainly create one for you! Note me with the details and we can discuss :D

Certainly! I know what it's like to have people use your ideas without a shout-out (or permission sometimes). So, no worries there!

As for my freight idea, I'll get back to you when I've fleshed out my ideas for it.

That's correct, 4 on the top, 3 in the middle and 4 at the bottom.

I would like to ask for permission to use this as a personal ship for my OC, Daniel Fowler. Also, could you please place a commander seat for me at the middle of the cockpit?

Permission granted! But unfortunately I can't change the layout. If you'd like to try your hand at it though I'm quite willing for you to have a go so long as you give credit!

Thanks. I may try to do it in paint (photoshop and such wasnt created for me. I cant use them, sadly) and I add some extra weaponry, if no problem.

If you have a larger version of the picture of the actual ship that's shown in the upper right corner of your artwork, I'd REALLY love to have it. been trying to create such a ship myself, but can't get it to come out right.

I actually photoshopped that myself from the Tantive IV... not sure if I've got a larger version! How big do you need it?

I tried the same thing (in GIMP, can't afford Photoshop), just don't have the skill level I guess. As big as possible, SOME enlargement is possible on my end, but after a certain point, I'd lose resolution.

I'll have a look in my source files to see if I've got a bigger version, but I doubt it'll be big enough... sorry!

Hey this is pretty good, I've been trying to find any kind of deck plans for the Tantive IV for starbound.

I wouldn't recommend using these if you're after Tantive IV plans! This is for a smaller, freighter version of the ship, the CR90 Corvette has 2 decks in the forward section, for one thing!

If you're interested in CR90 deckplans however, watch this space! I believe I'm due to be commissioned for a similar ship very soon!
